Police arrest 8 suspected young robbers terrorising Oshodi

The police officers at Makinde Police Division, Mafoluku, Oshodi have apprehended eight young boys of the gang who robbed Boutique, Pharmacy and Provision stores in Oshodi during the festive period, between December 24 and 30, 2019.
According to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Chinedu Chiemezie, the suspects have been kept in the police custody while hunting for others who are still at large before they are charged to court.
The suspects within the age bracket of 16 to 20 years who were said to be residents of Oshodi belonging to different groups identified as Special Guys group, Ori Tiles group, Iwaju Church group and Seven Streets group were alleged to have been involved in the robbery.
Two of the boys (Amarachi Uduagah 20 years and Lekan Dawuda also 20 years) confessed to the police that they are from the same group (Iwaju Church) and that there are about 20/30 boys in their group.
The suspects further confessed to the police during interrogation that the groups do pretend to be fighting with each other to cause confusion in the vicinity and use the opportunity to gain access to get their operations carried out at about 10pm.
They affirmed that they bought new cutlasses which they hid in their trousers during operations, stating that any victim who refused to corporate with them would be macheted by the one called killer in the group.
They also confessed to be part of the gang who robbed at the Boutique and the Pharmacy in December 2019, carting away clothes which they wore on Christmas day.
They added that they also collected several phones from their victims and sold them at the rate between N10,000 and N12,000 each.
Meanwhile, the police said they have arrested one of the phone buyers, saying investigation is ongoing to make sure that other suspects are arrested.
