The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has inaugurated the Ibeju-Lekki Education Scholarship Board, a strategic initiative designed to institutionalise the administration of scholarships and bursaries and guarantee a transparent, sustainable framework for supporting students across the local government area.

The inauguration marks a major step in the administration’s commitment to ensuring that educational support programmes are not only maintained but strengthened through a structured system backed by clear guidelines and accountability mechanisms.

Addressing members of the newly constituted Board, Hon. Olowa noted that his administration has consistently invested in the educational advancement of Ibeju-Lekki students through scholarship and bursary schemes benefiting students in Pan-Atlantic University and other tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

He stated that while the interventions have yielded positive results over the years, the establishment of a dedicated Scholarship Board has become necessary to provide the legal and administrative framework required to coordinate, manage, and sustain such programmes for the benefit of present and future generations.

According to the Chairman, education remains one of the most powerful tools for social and economic development, stressing that every deserving student should have a fair opportunity to pursue academic excellence irrespective of financial limitations.

Hon. Olowa urged members of the Board to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, fairness, transparency, and a strong sense of duty, emphasizing that the credibility and success of the initiative would depend on their commitment to serving the best interests of the people.

The Board comprises Mr. Agbaje Sodiq as Chairman, Mrs. Ganiyat Belo as Secretary, alongside Mr. Balogun Ridwan, Mr. Sharafa Moruf, Mrs. Odubote Hadiza, Mrs. Osun Shakirat, Mrs. Edunjobi Hassan, Mrs. Adesokan, and Mr. Oladimeji Ibrahim as members.

The Executive Chairman explained that the composition of the Board reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusiveness and broad stakeholder participation, bringing together individuals from different segments of the community, including youth representatives, community leaders, and officials within the local government administration.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, the Chairman, Mr. Agbaje Sodiq, expressed appreciation to Hon. Olowa for the confidence reposed in the members and assured residents that the Board would operate with professionalism, accountability, and transparency in carrying out its mandate.

The establishment of the Education Scholarship Board further demonstrates the Olowa administration’s resolve to build enduring institutions, strengthen educational support systems, and create opportunities that will empower young people and contribute to the long-term development of Ibeju-Lekki.
