Afeez, my best friend and my esteemed brother.

No doubt, this is a trying period for you and I know it must have been a really tough day for you and the entire family. I want you to know as well that my entire family and I have been in prayers for God’s strength and grace for you. Monsurat was a good person and a pillar of support in your life. But I want you to know that God knows better than all of us. You loved and still love her but God loves her more than you do. Monsurat came and gallantly did her part and she has gone home like a Hero in a blaze of glory. She was courageous in holding on to her faith in God, just like she was brave in her battle to live. Her eventual surrender was to God and not to death.

My thoughts and those of my wife, children and siblings are with you and your children at this time just as we are concerned about ‘sisi mi’, the agonizing mother and the siblings of Monsurat. I am writing this note to you with tears in my eyes as I know you,  Halimot and her siblings must have spent the day in tears in the midst of grieving members of the extended family around and about you as you buried your wife. I love you,  Afeez. I sincerely share in this pain. But, more importantly, I need you to give it all to God and stand up for the children and the rest of the family as a source of strength at this crucial time. To you and the children, to ‘sisi mi’ (as Monsurat would call her); to ‘Iya Gbogbo’ and the rest of Monsurat’s loving and amiable siblings, be rest assured my family (nuclear and extended) share in this pain and we are united in praying that Almighty God grants you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss while granting her eternal rest in heaven.

Keep the faith Afeez! Good night, Monsurat!!
