About the DGC Investment Readiness Programme
The programme focuses on preparing early-stage businesses for investor scrutiny by helping founders move beyond pitching ideas to presenting credible business evidence.
Participants will work through DGC’s POEM Framework®, which covers four essential areas: Proposition, Organisation, Economics and Milestones. These areas help founders assess their market opportunity, team capacity, financial performance and growth potential.
Through structured learning sessions, expert masterclasses, advisory support and accountability check-ins, participants will develop a clearer understanding of their businesses and the evidence investors typically require before considering an investment.
Benefits of the Programme
Selected entrepreneurs will receive practical support to improve their investment readiness and business development processes.
Key benefits include:
- Business model development: Strengthen the company’s value proposition and clarify the problem it solves for customers.
- Market validation: Assess target customers, market opportunities, competition and business traction.
- Financial planning: Develop financial models, revenue projections, growth targets and measurable milestones.
- Investor documentation: Organise essential company information and supporting evidence in a Digital Data Room.
- Pitch preparation: Improve investment presentations and prepare to answer questions from potential investors.
- Expert guidance: Access masterclasses, advisory sessions, practical resources and regular accountability support.
- Investor exposure: Qualifying founders will have an opportunity to present their businesses to members of the DGC investor network during Demo Day.
Founders who attract investor interest may also receive introductions and support during subsequent discussions. However, participation does not guarantee funding, as investment decisions remain with individual investors.
Who Can Apply?
The programme is primarily designed for founders of African descent, whether they live on the continent or in the diaspora.
It is particularly suitable for entrepreneurs at the ideation and pre-seed stages who have started validating their business ideas, developed a product or demonstrated early customer interest and traction.
Applicants should be interested in raising capital within the next six to 12 months and be prepared to dedicate several hours each week to programme activities, business development and documentation.
Founders at later stages of development may also apply, with suitability assessed on an individual basis.
Programme Format and Duration
The DGC Investment Readiness Programme will be delivered entirely online, allowing eligible founders to participate from different locations.
The 12-week programme combines structured learning, practical assignments, business documentation, expert feedback and pitch preparation. Participants will be expected to attend live sessions, complete weekly activities and apply the lessons to their businesses.
The programme culminates in a Demo Day, where founders who meet the required readiness standards can present their businesses and supporting evidence to potential investors and ecosystem partners.
