Bayer Leverkusen Chief Reveals What Boniface Must Do To Revive Career
By Saheed Afolabi
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director, Simon Rolfes has urged Victor Boniface to improve his fitness and maintain his progress as the Nigerian striker continues to fight for opportunities at the German Bundesliga club.
Boniface has faced challenges in securing a regular role at Leverkusen, with Rolfes identifying fitness as a key area the forward must address to demonstrate his attacking qualities more consistently.
According to Rolfes, the 25-year-old possesses qualities that can benefit the team, but his ability to contribute effectively without the ball remains an area requiring improvement.
“Starting and working against the ball was not his core competency when he played and scored. He has other qualities. We want to raise his fitness level as much as possible so that he can better demonstrate the qualities he undoubtedly possesses,” Rolfes was quoted by Transfermkt.
The Leverkusen chief also offered an encouraging update on the striker’s mental state, suggesting that Boniface has become more positive about his situation at the club.
“He has been in a much better mood, also mentally, and sees many more perspectives again.”
Despite the improvement in Boniface’s mood, Rolfes stated that the forward must continue working hard and maintain his fitness to earn another opportunity in the team.
“That doesn’t change Boni’s situation. He needs to stay fit, keep at it and improve, then his opportunity will arise. I’m not worried.”
Boniface has established himself as a talented forward, but his immediate future at Leverkusen will depend on his ability to meet the club’s expectations and make the most of any opportunities that come his way.
