Arokodare Wants Permanent Ajax Move, Urges Club To Raise Salary
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria striker, Tolu Arokodare has expressed his desire to remain at Ajax beyond his current loan spell, urging the Dutch giants to reach an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers over his future.
Arokodare, who said he has felt welcomed at Ajax since his arrival, admitted he would be happy to extend his stay at the club but stressed that any permanent move would depend on negotiations between the two sides.
“That’s between Ajax and Wolves, I can’t say anything about it. Tell that to Ajax and maybe increase my salary,” Arokodare said.
The Nigerian forward, however, made no secret of his affection for the club, revealing that he was open to continuing his career in Amsterdam beyond the current arrangement.
“Of course I’m open to it. I love it here. I’ve felt love here from day one,” he added.
Arokodare also spoke about his experience in Amsterdam, revealing that he had yet to explore much of the city because he prefers to spend his free time indoors.
“I haven’t really been to Amsterdam yet; I don’t really go out. I’ve only been to the cinema because I’m a fan of movies,” he said.
Despite his limited exploration of the city, the striker described the club’s stadium as his favourite place, highlighting the support he has received from fans and the satisfaction he derives from playing alongside his teammates.
“I think it’s fantastic here; this is my favourite place (the stadium). This is where I am happy, where I see everyone, where everyone can show their love and support, and where everyone is satisfied. Here I can do what I love to do: play football with my teammates and coaches,” he stated.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward also revealed plans to discuss his future with Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff, expressing hope that his status as a loan player would soon change.
“Hopefully, I won’t be a loan player for much longer. I’m going to talk to Jordi (Cruyff, technical director of Ajax),” Arokodare said.
