Injury Forces Aruna Quadri To Exit ITTF Africa Championship
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria’s table tennis star, Quadri Aruna, was forced to retire from his Round of 16 match against Egypt’s Mohammed Elbeiali due to injury at the 2026 ITTF Africa Championships in Tangier, Morocco.
Aruna was trailing 3-2 in sets when the injury prevented him from continuing the encounter, bringing his campaign in the men’s singles event to an unfortunate end.
The setback is a major disappointment for the Nigerian, who had hoped to progress further in the continental competition featuring some of Africa’s finest table tennis players.
Quadri is one of Nigeria’s leading figures in international table tennis, will now hope to recover quickly and return to action soon.
