Philanthropist, US based club fete Oshodi residents with free medical care

The residents of Oshodi community have enjoyed a 2-day free medical care billed to run from March 26th to 27th 2018 held at Oba Elewu way and Yekini Street by Tiwalade Primary School Shogunle Oshodi.

The healthcare initiative was organized by Dr.Bashiru Dawood in conjunction with Eko Club Atlanta USA as an opportunity to give back to the community.

The organiser provided primary care services to the doorsteps of the citizens in Oshodi at no cost, irrespective of their financial and social status, age, religion and gender.

Addressing the crowd at the venues, Dawood explained that the mission was short term intervention geared towards complementing government’s efforts in health sector, adding that the daily hustling people needed medical checkup to prevent illness early.

“To ensure that people receive good healthcare, I have with me, competent team from Atlanta Georgia to render health services to my people at grassroots level.”

He however said he wished he could do more but the statistics of patients which counted above 1000 people for the two days outnumbered his resources.

Dr. Brown Cole from Atlanta appreciated Oshodi community for the chance given to access their health issues and more so, the warmth reception given to them.

Brief recap of the diagnostic test according to Dr. Dawood showed a high rate of high blood pressure detected from the patient, followed by diabetes, other minor illness such as fever, headache, malaria, cold and cough were all detected.

Beneficiaries also gave words of appreciations towards the kind gesture received.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness, Oba Kuti Edufa II, the Elewu of Ewu land, Oba Shakirudeen, who commended the effort of Dr. Dawood for extending a hand of care to his community, also craved the indulgence of those in high positions to pay attention to humanity service of their people.

A beneficiary of the free health service, Taofeek Olasanmi, who testified to the free health service enjoyed, said, “It is true, it is real and free, I have been tested and given drugs for the ailment diagnosed, others  please come and enjoy.”

Another beneficiary, Okunoye Bolanle, appreciated the programme and the organisers for remembering the less privileged ones at the grassroots, saying that the issue of her fever and headache has been administered to.

The Secretary, Toyin Adewole, commended the effort of everyone put together to make the mission a successful one.
