Testimony to Tenacity: Celebrating Obe on his Birthday

The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alh. (Hon.) Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE) was born on the 5th of November, 1967, to the family of Late Alhaji Nurudeen Adio Bello and Alhaja Tawakalitu Bello of the famous family of Akinsanya Ajaloleru of Imakiyo Chieftaincy Family and Fadu Mewon family of Ejigbo. Hence, he is a native of Ejigbo Town, Lagos State.

He had his primary education between 1975 and 1980/81 in Ejigbo Primary School, and proceeded to Ejigbo Community High School where he completed his secondary education in the 1987/88 session. He completed his National Diploma (ND) at the Lagos State Polytechnic in the year 1994/95 and obtained his Higher National Diploma in Marketing from Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State in 1998.

In 2004, he proceeded to Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho in Oyo State, for his Post Graduate (PGD) course.

In March 2000, the Executive Chairman was employed by the Lagos State Civil Service Commission And was deployed to the Ministry of Transportation where he worked as an Executive Officer (GD). The Ministry attached him to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructures to handle transportation matters.

In 2008, Alh. Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello resigned from the service of the Lagos State Government in order to pursue his political career. He was elected as the Vice Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA for the 2008-2011 administration. He was re-elected as the Vice Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA for the 2011-2014 administration. During those two tenures, he worked with Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan (the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State).

Alh. Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello (OBE) was elected as the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Lagos State, on July 24th, 2017, and he runs the office till date. He is not just a leader, he is also a manager. He has been able to co-ordinate and guide human and material resources, in order to achieve the goals of his administration and Ejigbo LCDA at large.

What an exceptional leader! In just two years of leadership, the Chairman has achieved a lot. With a winning team, OBE has executed several people-oriented projects, led by positive example, supported community activities and charitable causes, etc.

His administration has recorded uncountable achievements in areas of Infrastructure, Education, Health, Agriculture, Empowerment, Peace and Security, etc.

Under his leadership, the 1st annual Ejigbo Business Summit was held on July 11, 2018. He renovated and remodeled the Council Secretariat in December 2018, thereby creating more offices to accommodate the Finance Staffs and Legislators.

He refurbished the Ambulance in September 2018. He purchased and distributed official vehicles to all the Supervisors, Legislators and Management Team. Two Revenue Buses have been procured too, while the Staff Union Bus is under way.

Worthy of mentioning is the purchase and reconstruction of the Multipurpose Building at Otasunmi Street, Iyana-Ejigbo; a building that accommodates the Child-care centre, Marriage Registry, Halls and Registration Centres for National Identity Card and LASSRA. In July 2019, he purchased a 150KVA Generator for the Council Secretariat.

Rehabilitation of roads has been a continuous project since he came to power. He started with the rehabilitation and construction of Moshalashi and Alhaji Obe Road known to be an abandoned death trap. Other roads include: Kolawole and Sebili Roads, Agbonmagbin Road, Ifoshi Road, Rafiu Tijani, Sule Ajegunle, Goloba Ashogbon, Tajudeen Kazeem Street, Rafiu Tijani and Apata Street, Fayemi and Sunmonu Street, Folawewo and Aigbedion Road, Disu Aina, Chris Oladunni Street, Almoroof Street, Adebayo Ogunlana Road, e.t.c. The most recent ones which are still under construction are: Kashimawo Alimi street, Dauda Ilo Road and the Dual Carriage Way at Junction, Oke-Afa.

His selfless efforts and giant strides have not gone unnoticed. No wonder people from different corners and levels of the society are appreciating him for his good work and selfless service. He has received almost fifty awards and more are still coming in. As the first indigenous Chairman of the Local Council, his watchword has always been ‘EJIGBO MUST DEVELOP!”

Alh. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello is a Muslim and is happily married and blessed with children.
