Call for Applications: GIZ SEED Free Solar PV Training with COREN Certification
Applications are now open for the Siemens Energy Education and Development (SEED) Solar PV Installation Training Programme.
This offers Nigerians an opportunity to gain practical renewable-energy skills through free three-week training and COREN certification.
The programme is supported by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), a technical assistance initiative co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by GIZ Nigeria & ECOWAS. The SEED initiative is being delivered in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power and other partners as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s energy workforce.
What the Training Offers
Selected participants will undergo three weeks of intensive, in-person training combining classroom instruction with practical Solar PV installation exercises.
The programme will also include technical site visits and competency assessments designed to help participants develop job-ready skills for Nigeria’s growing renewable-energy sector.
Successful participants will receive a nationally recognised certificate, while the cost of COREN certification will be covered for those who complete the training. Meals will also be provided on training days.
The wider SEED initiative aims to train approximately 6,000 energy-sector professionals over five years, helping to create a stronger pipeline of skilled workers for Nigeria’s on-grid and off-grid energy systems.
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is open to applicants from both formal educational and practical experience-based backgrounds.
Eligible applicants include:
- Individuals with at least two years of relevant practical experience; formal education is not mandatory for this pathway.

- Young professionals in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy and related technical fields.
- Technicians and professionals already working in, or seeking to enter, the renewable-energy sector.
- Nigerians interested in developing practical skills in Solar PV installation and clean energy.
Applicants from practical and experience-based backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply.
