Police Arraign Employee For Stealing Company’s N1.9m

The Police in Lagos have arrested a female employee for allegely stealing the sum of N1,900,900 at her workplace.

The accused identified as Josephine Moses who designated as a Secretary at the company was arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja on one count of stealing.

Moses, 33, pleaded not guilty.

Nevertheless, ASP Rachael Williams, who appeared as Prosecutor said that the defendant, who resides at Sam Ethan Air Force Base, Ikeja, commited the offence on May 17 at La Flotte Water Factory, Oshodi Lagos.

Williams said that the defendant was given the sum of N1,300,000 by her superior to deposit into the company’s account. However, she converted the money for her personal use.

The theft act was discovered when the company took  audit of it’s account and found out that the company had lost of N1.900,900m due to an additional N600,000 missing.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until June 28.
