Intending Muslim pilgrims from Lagos planning to perform the 2027 Hajj in Saudi Arabia will pay a final fare of N7,882,822, with the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board setting September 26, 2026 as the deadline for payment.

The new fare is slightly lower than the N7.9 million paid by Lagos pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.

The Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, said the reduction was linked to efforts by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to make the annual pilgrimage more affordable and seamless for Nigerian pilgrims.

What is the payment deadline?

Intending pilgrims are required to complete payment of the N7,882,822 fare on or before September 26, 2026, in line with the deadline set by NAHCON.

The Board urged pilgrims not to wait until the last minute, explaining that early payment is necessary to allow the authorities to process travel documents and meet deadlines set by Saudi Arabian authorities.

What does the N7.88m package cover?

The Lagos State Government said pilgrims will receive a range of services designed to make their stay in Saudi Arabia more comfortable and organised.

These include standard accommodation, daily meals and transportation within Saudi Arabia.

The meals will also feature local delicacies, according to the Board.

What about medical care?

Medical support will also be provided to Lagos pilgrims during the pilgrimage.

The state government said it would prioritise the welfare of pilgrims throughout their stay in the Holy Land, including providing necessary medical services.

Will pilgrims receive allowances?

Yes. The package also includes the payment of Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) to pilgrims.

The state will equally support the slaughtering of Hadayah rams, an important aspect of the Hajj rites for pilgrims required to perform the sacrifice.

Will there be visits to historical sites?

Lagos pilgrims will also participate in organised Ziyarah visits to historical and religious sites in Makkah and Madinah.

These visits are intended to give pilgrims the opportunity to visit significant sites during their stay in Saudi Arabia.

Why is early payment important?

According to the Board, payment is not simply about securing a place for the pilgrimage. It also gives the authorities sufficient time to complete documentation and other arrangements required ahead of the pilgrimage.

The Board Secretary said the Lagos State Government would continue to prioritise the welfare of its pilgrims and ensure that the 2027 Hajj exercise is properly coordinated.

He also credited NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, with efforts to reduce the cost of the pilgrimage.

For intending Lagos pilgrims, the immediate requirement is clear: complete payment of N7,882,822 by September 26, 2026, while ensuring that all required travel and pilgrimage documentation is processed within the stipulated timeframe.
