The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter has thrown its weight behind the second term bid of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.
The Chairman of PFN,  Apostle Eyinnaya Okwuonu said at a meeting of the leadership of the body on Thursday that Sanwo-Olu is a member of the Christian body and a true son of God who must be supported.
He said that supporting Sanwo-Olu did not mean that other candidates were not good but based on the performance of the governor in the last four years, the fellowship would be praying for his victory at the March 11 polls.
According to Okwuonu, the decision to support Sanwo-Olu is based more on his performance and his passion to finish to the good works he had started.
“Over the years, I have been watching Sanwo-Olu and seeing in him a man with vision whose desire is to impact lives. Moreso, he is one of us. He is a child of God and we need to give him that support. And that does not mean we don’t value other candidates.”
Also at the meeting, the fellowship’s  Director of Politics and Governance, Bishop Theophilus Ajose said it had to take a stance concerning the governorship race because Governor Sanwoolu has done well in the state.
He said, “There is no need to change a winning team. The governor has done well and we thought it will be great if he is allowed to continue the good work that he started.”
Ajose explained that it is the candidacy of Sanwoolu that is of interest to the PFN and not the party. “The gubernatorial election is not about the party, but the person of Babajide Sanwoolu. So far, he has made the church proud and has governed the state without any religious  bias. He deserves our support.”
