An entrepreneur cum politician, Hon. Ayodele Oliyide, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidates representing Oshodi-Isolo constituency at the National House of Assembly have drawn back the developmental trends in the constituencies, saying since they were elected in 2015, they have done nothing in the constituencies in term of developmental or empowerment projects.

The former Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant stated that representatives have abandoned the people who voted them in for the past three years.

He said the negligence of the constituencies by those representatives has deprived the people of the constituencies the benefits of democracy from the federal level.

He noted that not a single bill that would benefit the people at the grassroots has been sponsored by them.

He submitted that even the one who defected to APC has not imbibe the culture of the party, noting that he has still not keyed into the developmental philosophy of the party. He added that the trait and blood of his formal party still runs in his vein.

Oliyide, who is the President of Liberation Empowerment and Action Network (LEAN) Group/OPAS-Africa, an NGO, said he was trying to rectify where those representatives have failed the people of the constituency by empowering  them through vocational trainings.

He lamented, “Things are not moving the way they are supposed to in our constituency because those who are representing us at the federal level are from the other party. The trait and blood of the party are still in them even as one of them defected. Are we ready to return them? No!”

Oliyide therefore sensitized the people of the constituency not to return them by voting them out in 2019, admonishing them to massively vote for the core APC candidates if they want to enjoy dividend of democracy from the federal level.

Speaking on the candidature of the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, who has declared his intension to run for the Federal House Of Representatives under the platform of APC I in 2019, Oliye affirmed that Bamigbetan is the right candidate to occupy the seat.

He said that the commissioner is a core grassroots politician who really knows and understands the sufferings and needs of the people at the grassroots having been living among them both as a chairman of Ejigbo LCDA and an incumbent commissioner in Lagos state.

He noted that Bamigbetan’s philanthropic gesture has helped many people in the constituency.

He recalled that his passion for empowering people was fueled by the loan scheme Bamibetan organized when he was the LCDA chairman, where people were given loans to start businesses.
