The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, has confirmed the arrest of a robber and ex-convict Chukwuemeka Okafor following an intelligent report by the Neighborhood Security Corps (LSNC) who informed the police of the criminal acts of the suspect.

Edgal, who briefed journalists about the operations at the Command Headquaters, Ikeja, stated that operatives from the Area D Command, Mushin, were beeped by the LSNC that Okafor, who was formerly arrested for robbery charges was forcefully obtaining valuables from unsuspecting members of the public, one of them identified as Juliet Etim.

He said investigations revealed that Okafor and his gang members intercepted the victim on April 14 around Cele bus stop while she was driving to Ejigbo for her daily activities and dispossessed her of money.

Edgal added, “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He mentioned one Capol Alhaji as the leader of the gang. Exhibits, including eight pieces of 10,000 CFA Franc, four pieces of 1,000 CFA Guinea, 17 notes of $1, 000 and four pieces of £50 – all suspected to be fake – were recovered from them. The suspects will be charged to court.”
