Ikorodu Kingdom Rings in 2024 with Royal Tradition With 1st Baby of the Year Gift Presentation Program

In a display of tradition, the paramount ruler of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, and his wife, Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi, continued their cherished annual event of the 1st Baby of the Year Gift Presentation Program.

It took place at the Ikorodu General Hospital on January 1st, the initiative unfolded with the royal couple’s representatives presenting cash, baby items, and other gifts to patients in the pediatric, prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal wards.

This year, the festivities were accentuated by the arrival of three newborns. A girl and two boys graced the world at 12:05 am, 12:10 am, and 1:27 am, respectively.

Expressing his joy, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom highlighted the program’s significance in welcoming new life and ensuring their well-being. Oba Shotobi reaffirmed his commitment to personally assess the hospital’s care quality and address patient concerns.

Acknowledging the collaborative effort, he extended gratitude to the Lagos State Government, Health Sector Ministry, and the dedicated staff at Ikorodu General Hospital. The paramount ruler urged for the hospital’s upgrade to a teaching facility to foster the growth of more professional doctors.

In a plea directed at healthcare professionals, Oba Shotobi urged against the trend of leaving the country (“Japa”), assuring them of a positive future for Nigeria.

Dr. Taiwo Hassan, the Medical Director/CEO of Ikorodu General Hospital, expressed appreciation for the ongoing support, emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to quality service.

 He urged the government to tackle healthcare challenges, including retaining doctors and elevating the hospital to a teaching institution.

Ashipa Kaoli Olusanya praised the relentless efforts of the hospital staff, and former Medical Director Mr. Modiu lauded Dr. Taiwo Hassan’s diligence.

Mr. Rotimi Erogbobo, IKODASS chairman, extended thanks to supporters and commended the Baale’s for their continuous support. The event concluded with Mr. Yekini, PRO of General Hospital Ikorodu, expressing gratitude for attendees, including Ashipa Kaoli Olusanya, Mr. Rotimi Erogbobo, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, Dr. Idowu Modiu Babatunde, Dr. Onalolapo, Baale’s, and Rotary Club representatives.
