Lagos is set to welcome prominent national and state leaders as three governors and other distinguished dignitaries prepare to attend the 2026 National Women’s Conference (NWC) organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), scheduled for October 26 to 28.

The three-day event, themed “Anchored for Purpose: Be the Blueprint,” will take place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island. It is being organised under the leadership of the First Lady of Lagos State and Chairman of COWLSO, Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji have been invited as Special Guests of Honour for the opening and closing ceremonies respectively. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is also expected to join the gathering, bringing the number of governors in attendance to three.

Dr Sanwo-Olu announced the details during a press briefing in Ikeja. She described the conference as the eighth edition under the current Lagos State administration and a platform for meaningful conversations on purpose, leadership, empowerment and legacy.

The event will run in a hybrid format, accommodating up to 3,000 physical participants at a fee of ₦150,000, while virtual attendance is priced at ₦50,000 with no limit on numbers. Registration, which opened in mid-September, was scheduled to close on October 15, with late physical registration attracting an additional charge.

Beyond the main sessions, the programme includes keynote lectures, presentations, networking opportunities and the traditional COWLSO Gala Night. A pre-conference awareness walk, themed “Blueprint in Motion: From Vision to Action,” was also planned to take the message into the wider community.

Dr Sanwo-Olu challenged women to move beyond personal achievement and focus on the lasting footprints they leave in their families, workplaces and society. The presence of the three governors and other high-profile dignitaries, she noted, reflects the growing national recognition of COWLSO’s work in advancing women’s development and purposeful leadership.

As Lagos gears up to host the conference, organisers expect a diverse gathering of policymakers, professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, community leaders and young women from across the country.
