The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has called for 30 per cent of the total volume of discounted petrol to be allocated to its retail network to ensure wider distribution and improve access to the product across the country.

PETROAN’s National Public Relations Officer, Joseph Obele, said the proposed allocation would help extend the benefits of the intervention beyond major cities to local government areas, towns, villages and hard-to-reach communities.

Obele stressed that involving the association’s retail outlets in the distribution process would promote broader national coverage and ensure that consumers in underserved locations also benefit from the discounted petrol initiative.

“PETROAN is requesting that 30% of the total volume of discounted petrol be allocated through its retail network to guarantee wider national distribution and ensure that the benefits of the intervention reach Nigerians across Local Government Areas, towns, villages and hard-to-reach communities,” he said.

The association’s proposal highlights the importance of an extensive retail distribution network in ensuring that discounted petroleum products reach consumers across different parts of the country.

PETROAN maintained that allocating a portion of the discounted petrol to its outlets would support a more inclusive distribution system, particularly for communities that may have limited access to major fuel supply channels.
