Ibeju-Lekki Chairman Unveils Plans for 2024

Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Engr. Sesan Olowa, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to spearheading the town’s developmental agenda, unveiling ambitious plans for the coming year. He made this commitment during an interview on the sidelines of the Epe Division Renaissance Initiative’s (EDRIN) Annual General Meeting and Induction ceremony in Epe.

Abdullahi Sesan Olowa received double honors at the close of the year, with Baales in Council from Lekki LCDA presenting an award recognizing him as the Most Innovative and Distinguished Local Government Chairman in Ibeju Lekki.

The Young Leaders Forum further bestowed upon him the prestigious Epe Division’s Best Chairman Award 2023 for his exceptional contributions to quality leadership, education advancement, and youth and human capital development in Ibeju Lekki Local Government.

Reflecting on the recently presented budget to the legislative arm, Hon. Olowa emphasized the budget’s all-encompassing nature, capturing every aspect of governance for the local government. He outlined a strategic focus on expenditure in 2024, with a keen emphasis on benefiting the local economies, creating synergy for Micro, Small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and linking skilled workers to the burgeoning industries in the area.

“My people have to benefit from the booming local economies. We must create a synergy for MSMEs and skilled workers to link the enormous industries in our domain. The value chain must benefit from the industrial revolution in Ibeju-Lekki,” he said.

Addressing plans to enhance revenue, Olowa revealed intentions to introduce an e-ticketing system, aiming to bolster the fiscal strength of the local government. He expressed optimism about converting the successful Ibeju-Lekki Marketplace on WhatsApp into an e-commerce hub, facilitating the registration, uploading, and trading of various businesses.

Olowa assured the residents of Ibeju-Lekki of an exciting 2024, promising more dividends of democracy. However, he urged the community to prioritize safety and remain vigilant in their neighborhoods. As the chairman lays out these ambitious plans, the community anticipates a transformative year under his dynamic leadership.
