Dawodu donates free school bus, classroom blocks

The member of the Federal House of Representatives, Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I, Dr. Bashiru Dawodu, has commissioned blocks of classrooms he built for five primary schools and one secondary school in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government.

Dawodu, while presenting the blocks to the school authorities on Thursday, also donated a school bus for the movement of the pupils and other education materials.

The beneficiary schools, picked in the three zones – Oshodi, Mafoluku and Shogunle – include Temidire Primary School, Shogunle; Ewutuntun Primary School; Mafoluku Primary School; Weseley Primary School; Local Government Primary School, Shogunle; and Mafoluku Grammar School.

A block of three classrooms with furniture was built for each primary school with addition of solar and borehole for Local Government Primary School, Shogunle, while Mafoluku Grammar School got two blocks of 12 classrooms with furniture and educational materials such as books, school bags and uniforms for the students.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Tutor General Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) Education District VI, Mrs. Okelola Oludara,said the gesture is a commendable effort, noting that the projects complement what Lagos State has been doing for the development of education sector.

She appealed for such help in more secondary schools.

Also speaking, one of the lawmakers who attended the programme, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, commended the gesture, saying it would enhance the education of his constituency.

Ihonvbere, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Basic Education and Science, noted that numerous problems facing education sector in Nigeria include lack of toilets, furniture, water system, perimeter fence and others.

The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede (Kendoo) promised to work with the lawmaker and other political office holders to facilitate more development inro the local government area.

Meanwhile, Dawodu, who expressed great joy as he presented the projects, appreciated the cooperation of the local government chairman, pledging to do more for his constituency.
