Protests continue on the roads leading to the hostels and may not end till dusk.

Flat  3 of Block 533 in the Isolo Low  Cost Housing Estate In Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Lagos State continued to draw throngs of sympathisers this morning as friends came to console the Adesina family over the loss of Omowumi Aishat, their Part Four Foreign Languages daughter whose death has set the Obafemi Awolowo University campus on the boil.

At 12 noon, the pastor of Love of Christ Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Moses Olaleru was still consoling the family urging them to have faith in the scriptures that God that gave has brought her to Him.

The atmosphere was tense and mournful. Visitors spoke in hushed tones. Women shed tears.

Far away on the OAU campus, students scurried out of the hostels to board vehicles home as the university’s 12 noon deadline for exit drew near.

But the newly-elected students’ leaders are crying foul insisting that the students would not go home until the allegation that negligence of health officials at the university’s health centre led to Miss Adesina’s death has been investigated.

Their statement reads:

“We call on the University Management to investigate this death and punish all health workers who failed in performing their duties when Aishat needed attendance which they failed to give but only transferred her in her last moments to Seventh Day Hospital where she eventually died. Without a proper and quick investigation (one which must actively involve and be communicated to students) and punishment meted, the University Management will be putting the lives of students in danger. We cannot let our lives become toys. We will have to protest this, as we cannot afford to keep losing our lives like fowls.
