“What Influenced My Free JAMB Form Distribution”

The lawmaker representing Kosofe constituency II in the Lagos state House of Assembly, Mr. Femi Saheed, has said the need for more medical doctors, engineers, financial experts and other professionals in Nigeria have influenced his decision to distribute free 400 Jamb forms to indigent students in the constituency.
Echonews reports that Saheed distributed 400 free JAMB forms to indigent students of Kosofe constituency II on Saturday under the Femi Saheed Education Support Initiative ( FSESI).
Addressing the beneficiaries, the lawmaker said education is the best legacy a society could bequeath her youths for prosperity, saying that the initiative was to grow more skilled and knowledgeable youths that would add value to societal development.
Saheed, who acknowledged the shortage of manpower in the health sector, said that he was certain that out of the beneficiaries there would be trained medical doctors, structural engineers and financial experts who would scale up the shortage currently suffered.
” This is part of my giving back to the society. Just few months ago, I gave N1.5million to the best law students in Lagos State University (LASU) 2023/2024 set. This is to encourage other students in my constituency to study hard and believe that there is reward for hardwork.
” I so much believe that it is only educated and knowledgeable youths that can grow and develop our society for better and this will start in this way. I know from these beneficiaries of the free jamb forms, we will have medical doctors, accountants, engineers and other professionals that would cover up for the Japa syndrome. We have sufficient youths that we can develop educationally to fill up the human deficit in health, finance and other professions”, said Saheed.
” Initially, we look at giving 200 indigent students but when we see the turn out and how this will improve human capacity development, we scale it up to 400. This will definitely go a long way in my constituency and also ease burden on the parents. All I urge the beneficiaries to study hard and pass in flying colours. We have tutorials for them and also would conduct mock examination for them so as to prepare them ahead of the Jamb examination”, said Saheed.
He encouraged the youths to always use their skilled, knowledge and professionalism for the growth and development of the economy and the society at large, saying that Nigerian youths are talented and propser in any endeavour they choose.
Meanwhile, Director of Education in Education District Two, Mr Stephen Olatunji, advised the beneficiaries to study hard for the examination, saying that they should not misuse the free jamb opportunity.
Olatunji, who represented the Tutor-General of the education district, Mrs Adekanye, advised the beneficiaries not to engage in social vices, saying that it would hinder their progress in life.
He stated that the beneficiaries should zero their minds from engaging in examination malpractices, encouraging them to prepare early for it so as to be able score high mark.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mathew Idowu and Zainab Adejare, appreciated the lawmaker for the initiative, saying that they would never take the gesture for granted.
They urged their colleagues to take to the advice given by the lawmaker and those who addressed them, saying that nothing would deter them from scoring high marks.
Part of those who addressed the beneficiaries were officials of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Community Leaders and elders.
The event was attended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Alhaji Ali Olatunbosun, APC Chairman in Agboyi/Ketu LCDA, Mr Sunday Odekomaya, Deputy Chairman APC in Ikosi-Isheri, Mr Sakiru Balogun and some other party chieftains.
