Robbers invade pastor’s residence, cart away properties

A case of robbery has been reported at the Police Division, Idimu after a gang of dreaded armed robbers invaded the residence of a pastor, aiming to cart away church offerings realized from the congregation.

The pastor identified as Leviticus Chukwudi is now counting his loses after some daredevil armed robbers raided his home at Omoh Osaigbevo Street, Marfon area, Idimu at night and carted away some properties and tried escaping after realizing there wasn’t any trace of the church offerings in his house.

During the robbery incident, one of the residents of the building beeped the Police Division at Isheri, who tracked down one of the robbers, Emeka Simon.

During prosecution, Simon disclosed that the group was notified of the huge money realized at the penultimate service before the robbery act at the pastor’s church and decided to syphon all.

He revealed that their effort to get the sum of money was unfruitful and with the intention not to leave the scene empty handed, properties ranging from mobile phones and other gadgets were stolen.

The police did not state if the robbers injured any member of the family but said that the robbers stole properties worth an undisclosed amount of money.

It was gathered that Simon and his gang had climbed the fence, entered into the compound to aid their operation. The Police found Simon culpable and charged him before Ejigbo Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing, the offence to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Kenneth Asibor did not object to his bail. Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Teslimi Shomade granted Simon bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he would perfect his bail condition as the matter was adjourned till June 4, 2018.
