Prepaid meters ready in two weeks, IKEDC promises customers

The expectation of Ikeja Electric customers in Ejigbo may be realised soon as the company disclosed that the long awaited prepaid meters would be ready for installation in two weeks.

The officials of the company told the Community Development Committee Chairman (CDC), Ejigbo LCDA, Chief Giwa Lamoriu, that every customer in the community would be metered by the end of August, assuring them of availability of the meters.

Lamoriu assured the community residents, saying the electricity distribution company has promised to make the meters available for the customers by the end of August during various meetings he held with the IKEDC.

He explained: “The complaints from the community leaders on outrageous bills from the IKEDC have been constant issues for concern and the clamour for prepaid meters is what everybody agitates.

“So, the CDC made efforts to take the issues to the company and what was promised was till the end of August.

“We both agreed that after the installation of the meters, those who owe, their money will be deducted from their subscriptions.”
