Oshodi-Isolo House Cmtt summons Works Dept on road maintenance status

…as HOD seeks interdepartmental collaboration

Oshodi-Isolo Local Government House Committee on Works and Infrastructure has invited the Department of Works to brief the house on the state of roads maintenance within the locality.

At the meeting, the Supervisor for Works, Hon. Goke Owolabi, and the Secretary, Engr. Afolabi, who led the department on behalf of the Head of Department (HOD), Engr. Akande, updated the House on the ongoing resurfacing/repairs of damaged roads and the recently constructed roads within Oshodi axis which include Alhaji Rafiu, Ajenifuja, and Owoseni Streets as well as the drainage reconstruction works done at Wahab Larinde Furniture bus-stop.

Owolabi also listed Afariogun Primary School as one of the ongoing re-construction schools, revealing the plan to maintain other public primary schools.

In addition, the Secretary spoke on the road maintenance embarked upon by the department as  emphasized by the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, during the last town meeting held at Epe.

As a result of the meeting, the local government authority set up machinery for palliative measures to ensure that roads are fixed as soon as rain subsides.

Earlier before the meeting, the Head of Department (HOD), Works, Engr. Akande promised that his department would continue to ensure quality works that could withstand the present pressure that might surface.

He therefore sought robust synergy between Works and Environmental Departments on the need for proper maintenance of drainages before embarking on road rehabilitation to protect the durability of the roads.

He maintained that routine and regular drainage evacuation should be encouraged.
