Oba Kasali receives St. Gregory’s College Lifetime Achievement Award

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Abdulsemiiu Orimadegun Kasali, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association for his contributions to law, traditional leadership and community development.
Oba Kasali was among distinguished Nigerians recognised at the association’s Grand Reception and Lifetime Achievement Awards held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The ceremony brought together prominent figures from government, law, security, banking, business and traditional institutions, as the association celebrated the achievements of its alumni and the values associated with the college.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Oba Kasali, a distinguished alumnus of St. Gregory’s College.
The recognition covered his contributions to the legal profession, traditional institution, community development and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Before ascending the throne of his forefathers, Oba Kasali served as a Chief State Counsel of Lagos State. His legal background has remained an important part of his journey in traditional leadership and community service.
Since becoming the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, his reign has been associated with efforts aimed at promoting unity, preserving the cultural heritage of the kingdom and creating opportunities for young people.
One of his youth-focused initiatives is the provision of free Computer-Based Test (CBT) training designed to support young people preparing for educational and career opportunities.
The award therefore celebrated a career that has moved through the legal profession into traditional leadership, with community development remaining a major part of his public role.
Another traditional ruler honoured at the ceremony was Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, the 15th Oniru of Iruland, who also received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, a Gregorian alumnus, received a special award for his service and contributions to the nation.
Also recognised was the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Olayemi Michael Cardoso, while Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association and the first woman elected to lead the association, was among the notable personalities at the gathering.
For Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Kasali’s recognition adds another milestone to the monarch’s public record, placing his work in traditional leadership and community development alongside his earlier career in law.
The ceremony ultimately brought together alumni who have made their mark across different sectors, celebrating leadership, service and the continuing contributions of the Gregorian community to Nigerian society.
