NWFL Premiership: How Bayelsa Queens emerge champions

Bayelsa Queens emerged the champions of the NWFL Premiership by defeating Nasarawa Amazons 2-1 at Benin city, Edo state to lift the prestigious elite women league trophy.

It was a cast of fantastic and tremendous run from the ‘Prosperity Girls’ as they took the other teams that they played with in the NWFL Premiership Super 6 to the cleaners by winning all their 5 matches to set a record in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super 6.

The Moses Aduku tutored Bayelsa Queens side were at their very best in the NWFL Premiership Super 6 as two first half goals from on loan FC Robo Queens player, Gift Monday was enough to secure the NWFL Premiership Trophy against Nasarawa Amazons in the last game.

Bayelsa Queens won their first game in the Super 6 against arch rivals Rivers Angels 2-1 with a late goal from Gift Monday sealing the hard-fought win.

The second game was against Naija Ratels, the best of Bayelsa Queens came to play as they crushed Naija Ratels 4-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.

Edo Queens was a tough nut to crack for Bayelsa Queens and even coach Moses Aduku confessed that the game against Edo Queens was the toughest for him but they were able to grind out a 2-1 win despite the resurgence of the ‘Obaseki Girls’.

The match against Delta Queens was another tough game for Bayelsa Queens but a solitary goal from the ‘Prosperity Girls’ confined Delta Queens to a loss.

In Bayelsa Queens last game against Nasarawa Amazons, they just needed a draw to emerge champions but they remained steadfastness in the game and defeated Nasarawa Amazons 2-1 despite Nasarawa Amazons putting up a great fight in the game and scored a wonderful freekick.
