The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) celebrated the standout performers of the 2025/26 Premiership season on Sunday, as individual honours were presented following the conclusion of the Super Six playoffs in Port Harcourt.

Fresh from helping Edo Queens claim their second NWFL Premiership title, striker Atume Doosuur emerged as joint top scorer with 13 goals. She shared the prestigious Golden Boot with Abasiofon Uwah of Rivers Angels, who matched her tally with an equally impressive campaign. Both forwards were among the league’s most consistent and dangerous attacking threats throughout the season.

Hosts Rivers Angels were also rewarded for their sportsmanship, clinching the Fair Play Award for the 2025/26 season.

In the goalkeeping category, Fatima Oloko of Abia Angels was named Goalkeeper of the Season. Her consistency, leadership, and string of crucial saves played a vital role in her team’s solid performance.

The biggest individual honour of the evening went to teenage sensation Oluwakemi Adegbuyi of FC Robo Queens, who was crowned Player of the Season.

The dynamic midfielder enjoyed a breakout campaign, blending creativity, leadership, and goals to inspire her side during a strong regular season.

Reacting to the award, Adegbuyi said she was surprised to win the MVP accolade as she acknowledged the efforts of her teammates and coaches to clinch the individual honor.

Focus now shifts to the NWFL Championship and Nationwide League as clubs prepare for the next phase of women’s football development in Nigeria.
