NWFL Championship Matchday Two Review: Ghetto Tigers Ladies, DreamStar Ladies, Imo Strikers Queens Maintain Perfect Record

The matchday two of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship produced stunning results with 18 goals scored, two goals shy of the opening day matches in Calabar.

Ghetto Tigers Ladies, DreamStar Ladies, Imo Strikers Queens and Pelican Stars maintain their perfect run in the competition after two round of matches.

Six teams recorded victories while two games ended in a stalemate as the promotion dreams spread like wildfire.

Group 

Rosaria Victrix 2-0 Delta Babes

Rosaria Victrix handed Delta Babes their first loss of the campaign with a 2-0 win.

It took Olaide Osundina 23 minutes to find the back of the net for Rosaria Victrix, while Egodi Okonkwo got her second goal of the competition with her 65 minute strike.

First Mahi Babes 1-2 DreamStar Ladies

DreamStar Ladies soared to the top of Group A following their convincing 2-1 win against First Mahi Babes at the U.J. Eusene stadium, Calabar.

Mirabel Iraboh gave the Galacticas the lead in the 35 minute as Khadijat Kamarudeen doubled the Lagos based side lead in the 64 minute. Anastasia Bem pulled a goal back for First Mahi Babes as they recorded their second defeat of the tournament.

Group B

Gallant Queens 0-2 Pelican Stars

Hosts, Pelican Stars cemented their position ontop of group B table with a 2-0 win against Gallant Queens.

Onu Oguchukwu registered the Calabar Ladies first goal in the 8 minute and a minute after the start of the second half, Deborah Oyebowale sealed a comfortable win.

Ikukuoma Queens 0-1 Moje Queens

Moje Queens woke up from their slumber to hit a lone goal victory against debutants, Ikukuoma Queens.

Kehinde Adebanjo 62 minute strike separated both sides in the keenly contested encounter.

Group C

Wazbak Queens 1-2 Rangers Women

Rangers Women broke the deadlock of the encounter on the stroke of halftime, Taiwo Ayomide leveled the scoreline in the 51 minute.

Chisom Chukwuemeka restored the Enugu Girls lead in the 58 minute as the race for promotion brighten up.

Unification Ladies 0-0 Fortress Ladies

Unification Ladies were forced to a goalless draw by Fortress Ladies.

Despite having a point from their first game, Unification Ladies couldn’t breakdown the defense of Fortress Ladies who lost their first game against Wazbak Queens (3-2).

Group D

Chosen Generation Angels 0-2 Ghetto Tigers Ladies 

Ghetto Tigers Ladies defeated Chosen Generation Angels 2-0 in the south west derby.

Forward, Aishat Bolarinwa scored the opener in the 59 minute, while midfielder, Rofiat Ewetade doubled the Lagos giants lead in the 66 minute.

Kwara Ladies 0-3 Imo Strikers Queens 

Imo Strikers Queens maintain their flawless status in the NWFL Championship with an emphatic 3-0 victory against Kwara Ladies.

Kwara Ladies who are yet to register a win in the competition saw their efforts compounded by the firepower of Imo Strikers Queens.

Mmesoma Amaechi found the back of the net in the 6 minute and 20 minutes later, Chiamaka Onyeizu added to the Imp Girls advantage.

Mary Akpan kept the Kwara Ladies at bay with a 78 minute goal.
