Man Convicted For Sexual Assault On Minor, pornography

A man, Nurudeen Nasiru, has been confined to life imprisonment for sexually molesting her neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter luring her into pornography.

Nasiru was arraigned before Justice Abiola Soladoye at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.

At the proceedings on Thursday, State Counsel, Olusola Soneye, called three witnesses, a social worker, the survivor, and her father.

Soneye maintained that the act which was commited on February 21, 2033, at about 3:45pm on Aminu Street, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos transpired when the convict assaulted the survivor through the anus.

The judge said that the the confessional statement made by the jailbird was tendered as an exhibit by the prosecution.

She also held that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt on two counts of defilement and indecent treatment of a child.

She said, “Nasiru was a neighbour who goes to the room of the survivor and opens his phone to show her pornographic videos and afterwards will force her to practise what he had shown her on his phone.

“Nasiru, in his confessional statement, admitted to having had sexual intercourse with the survivor.”

The judge further held that the ingredients of the offence of sexual assault by penetration were thoroughly satisfied under Sections 261 and 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

She held, “On count one of sexual assault by penetration, Nasiru is sentenced to life imprisonment.

“On count two of indecent treatment of a child, Nasiru is sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

“The sentence should run concurrently, and his name is to be entered in the Sexual Offenders’ Register maintained by the Lagos State Government.”
