He said: “The project began two weeks ago and bearing in mind the heavy trucks that ply the route, we’re painstakingly putting up a standard construction that will be for more than 50 years if properly maintained.

“We’ve had to open and clear up most of the blocked drains here to ensure free flow of water and residents of the community are advised to take ownership of the road and always clear the drainages to avoid water encroachment or settlement on the road.”

He said some parts of the construction which will take the T-Shape upon completion having extended the scope of construction to Chivita Avenue would be opened up for usage very soon having considered the inconveniences residents and commuters have had to incur ever since the project commenced.

The chairman of Last Building Community Development association (CDA), Apostle Ossy Michael, said the project was a manifestation of what the residents have been asking for, promising that it  would be effectively managed.

“Honestly, the project will enhance our comfort; it will bring great relief for us. I must give kudos to him (Council Boss). We’ve been clamouring for this project and he has done great to have heard our cry.

He however urged the government not to allow any mechanic engineer to establish their workshop along the road as it remains one of the causes of damages to the roads in the community.
