Comoros captain, Assimina Maoulida says her team will approach their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying encounter against Nigeria’s Super Falcons without pressure, insisting that the players are focused on enjoying the game and expressing themselves on the pitch.

The Comoros will face the Super Falcons at the Remo Stars Stadium, in Ikenne with Maoulida acknowledging the importance of the encounter but maintaining that her teammates are determined to play with freedom.

The skipper said her side would not allow the occasion or the reputation of their more experienced opponents to weigh them down.

“At the moment, we don’t have pressure. It’s still football, and we are here to enjoy our match,” Maoulida said.

She added that the Comoros players would remain committed to their style of play, while focusing on giving their best and seeing how the contest unfolds.

“And play it how we love our football, and there is no pressure to have, and we’ll see what happens.”

The encounter presents the Comoros with an opportunity to test themselves against the Super Falcons, one of Africa’s most established women’s national teams, as both sides pursue their Olympic qualification ambitions.

While Nigeria will be keen to assert their quality on home soil, Maoulida’s comments suggest that the Comoros intend to approach the contest with a relaxed mindset and the freedom to compete.
