Comrade Ismaeel Garba Ismaeel has been appointed as the Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, a development that has sparked celebrations among political supporters and residents.

The appointment, confirmed by the chairman on Wednesday, comes months after Obasa assumed office as substantive chairman following the resignation of his predecessor, Hon. Tunde Azeez, popularly known as Tunde Disco, on November 5, 2025, due to health challenges. Obasa, who was then the vice chairman, subsequently took over the leadership of the council.

The announcement was greeted with excitement on social media, where political followers, party loyalists and residents congratulated Garba, describing his emergence as a worthy and well deserved appointment.

Many supporters expressed confidence in his ability to support the administration, citing his grassroots political experience, accessibility and commitment to public service.

Garba, a former student leader and grassroots mobiliser, is expected to coordinate activities in the chairman’s office and support the implementation of the administration’s policies and programmes.

His appointment is one of the latest moves by the Obasa administration as it continues to strengthen its leadership team and advance governance in Agege Local Government.

Further details surrounding the appointment are expected to be released by the council.
