Immigrants are the terrorists in Ilasa – Chief Imam
The Chief Imam of Ilasa community area of Isolo LCDA, Mohammed Saheed Saoban Abiona, has claimed that the immigrants constituted the miscreants terrorising the community, declaring that none of the indigenous children involved in the communal unrest.
He reiterated that immigrants should be blamed for the incessant chaos that happened in the past but, stating that the community leaders have been working hand-in-hand to maintain a peaceful environment being restored into the community.
He said, “Those we call miscreants, most of them are immigrants, and none boasts of Ilasa pedigree. No Ilasa-born is a miscreant. Those who had individually sought asylum here are the main problem of Ilasa but to the glory of Almighty Allah, we’ve been able to restore peace in the community.”
He revealed that the religion leaders have saddled themselves with the responsibility of educating the people in the community and convincing them to the right paths of life and praying fervently for the progress of the community.
Comparing the present situation in the community to some months back, he said, “If the community or society is doing great, the community leaders and religion leaders should be commended. But what the religion leaders have to do is to offer prayer. If there’s a problem, it is prayer we will resort to. It is obvious to all that the community has been experiencing unprecedented peace and that’s because the leaders in the community have been working hand-in-hand to uphold the common course of communal peace.
“We will continue trying to lecture everyone in the community especially the parents in order to pinch their sense of parental responsibility on their children so that they would not become wayward, and for the parents to reap the fruits of their labour over them.”
The Chief Imam also commended the Divisional Police Officer, Ilasa Division, SP Oriyomi Oluwasanmi Titilayo on her performance who he said has proved to be up to the task since her transfer to the community.
