For making Somolu proud, Dullar gifts One Day Gov Jemima laptop, library

Lagos State Spelling Bee contest winner and One Day Governor Jemima Marcus got a double treat from her local council boss boss yesterday: a laptop for her self and a library for her school.

Marcus attends Angus Memorial High School in Somolu Local Government Area where Hon.Abdulhamed Salawu, popularly hailed as “Dullar” is chairman.

Hosting Marcus and her eight-person, one -day cabinet members, Dullar praised former First Lady and now senator representing Lagos Central district Sen. Remi Tinubu for the initiative that has transformed the lives of teenagers by showcasing their mastery of spelling words.

“I must commend the initiator and pioneer of this noble platform that has continued to discover, nurture and guide our children in Lagos State to the path of greatness especially in academic excellence, our mummy and former First Lady, Distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the founder of New Era Foundation who is currently representing the Lagos Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly”, Dullar said.
Giving kudos to the One Day Governor for beating other competitors at the local and state levels to emerge as winner in 2019, the chairman celebrated her as a shining example to other students determined to excel in their studies.

He was particularly proud that she brought fame to the local government area.

His words:  “In the meantime, as a government and on behalf of the people of Somolu Local Government whom you have further placed on the global map with your enviable feat, I gift you a token sum of cash, a laptop and also intend to build a befitting library in Angus Memorial High School, Somolu”.

Replying, Miss Jemima Marcus, she poured heartfelt encomium on Senator Tinubu,  Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu,  the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-olu, the Ministry of Education and the chairman for the opportunity to excel.

In line with the protocols, the One Day Governor toured Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja; Lagos House, Marina; and the Presidential Lodge, Marina, Subeb in Maryland, Districts and many others before arriving the Local Government Secretariat Banquet Hall where scores of Stakeholders, Senior Citizens and youths filled to it’s capacity to welcome her back to the turf of glory and opportunities, Somolu.

In order of preference, she performed awesome list of activities as One Day Governor and with her Cabinet members, Mr Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwoolu (Lagos First Lady), Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (Deputy Governor), Hon Wahab Alawiye-King (SUBEB Chairman), Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni (Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance) and Other senior government officials. This privilege was put into effect by the First Lady of Lagos to give students first-hand knowledge of the history behind the strategic public assets.

During the course of the visit, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye disclosed to all, the importance of education, advising parents and teachers to recognise and nurture the potentials of the youth to boost their morale to succeed.
