A Female Bishop of God’s Bible Church, identified as Mrs Adline Ngozi has been charged before an Ejigbo Magistrate Court for her alleged involvement in fraud and stealing from her Church members. The 41-year-old Church Leader was affirmed to have obtained a sum of N1million each from one Mrs Temitope Kadiri and Dr. Ishaq Olanrewaju, the duo who are members of her congregation, with the deception of investing it in a five-year deposit scheme with the interest of N100,000 every month.
According to reports, the members fell for the guise and became victims of the scam plan. They both gave her the money since 2016 and have been expecting returns but have not been given a dime and later realised it was a duping plan.
It was gathered, that when the victims asked for the return of their money, the Imo State-born Clergy reportedly threatened to place a curse on them to scare them from demanding for their money, this resulted to the involvement of the Police; the matter was reported to the Idimu Police Division.
Rev. Ngozi was then arrested and charged to court with fraud under the Criminal Code. At a Court sitting during her arraignment, she pleaded not guilty. In her ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adedeji granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Clergy was remanded in prison custody pending perfection of her bail terms, the Presiding Magistrate has adjourned the matter till 19 April 2017 for hearing.
