Over 100 Suspects Arraigned Over Victoria Island, Lekki-Ajah Peace Breach
More than 100 suspects arrested during an early-morning operation across Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah have been arraigned before the Lagos State Special Offences Mobile Court in Bolade, Oshodi, over alleged breach of public peace and unlawful conversion of government property.

The suspects were reportedly arrested between 2am and 4am on Friday, September 4, 2026, following alleged activities capable of causing a breakdown of law and order in the Victoria Island-Lekki-Ajah axis.

The Lagos State Government, through its prosecution team led by Mrs Oluwabusola Omotunde, told the court that the defendants were facing charges bordering on breach of peace and unlawful conversion of government property for personal use.

During the proceedings, some of the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges, while others pleaded not guilty.
Presiding over the matter, the Chief Magistrate of the Mobile Court, F.J. Adefioye, stressed the need for deterrence while ensuring that the rights of the defendants were protected under due process.

The magistrate sentenced defendants who pleaded guilty to Counts I and II to one month and two months of community service or imprisonment, respectively, with the sentences to run consecutively.

Those who pleaded not guilty were remanded and granted bail, subject to the provision of two sureties each.
The Coordinator of the Mobile Court, Olufemi Adekunle, said the government would continue to prosecute persons found violating the law, stressing that the exercise was aimed at protecting residents, businesses and public spaces across Lagos.

He added that similar Mobile Court sittings would continue in other parts of the state to ensure that offenders are brought to justice promptly.
