The Fayemi Area Community Development Association (CDA) Chairman, Chief Babatunde Yaya, has disclosed that the community is not happy with the service of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC).

Yaya stated that the community has been starved of steady power supply, outrageous billing and lack of prepaid metres in the community having been promised in the past three years.

He alleged that the workers of the company working in the community always demanded bribe to carry out their assigned duties in the area.

His words: “We are not happy with their service. They promised us prepaid metres and for the past three years we have been pleading, they have not given us. Despite the availability of the metres in their office, they keep giving so many excuses.

“The most annoying thing is that they keep bringing outrageous bills for us every month. We don’t know how they come up with the figure on the bill without metres to measure what we consume and they refused to metre us. They usually tell us it is not yet our turn since about three years ago.

“We don’t really understand what is going on. I think maybe it because when the prepaid metres are installed for every community, the service of some of the workers in the organisation will no longer be needed because there will be no need for bill and disconnection any more, maybe that’s why.”
