Confusion Rocks Alimosho APC Primary as Ayuba, ABSICO Declare Victory
A major political crisis appears to be unfolding within the All Progressives Congress in Alimosho Local Government Area as rival aspirants, Ganiyu Adeleye Ayuba popularly known as Mayor KK, and Olabisi Adebanjo, have both declared themselves winners of the party’s House of Representatives primary election.
Echonews reports that the controversy has further exposed the fierce internal battle for political dominance within the APC structure in Alimosho, widely regarded as the biggest voting bloc in Lagos State politics.
Ayuba, the incumbent House of Representatives member seeking a second term, is reportedly aligned with the influential Joke Orelope/Bisi Yusuf political camp, while ABSICO, the immediate past chairman of Mosan-Okunola LCDA, belongs to the rival Enilolobo faction.
As the primary election approached, confusion reportedly spread across the constituency after different voting locations were circulated online by rival camps, leaving party members uncertain about the authentic venue for the exercise.
Several locations allegedly surfaced on social media and party platforms, while disclaimers and counter-disclaimers flooded the political space, deepening tension among supporters and party loyalists.
The confusion did not end there, as declarations of victory by both camps also flooded the internet shortly after the exercise, with supporters sharing posters, statements and congratulatory messages claiming their preferred aspirant had emerged victorious.
Political observers say the development reflects the long-running supremacy battle within the Alimosho APC, where different political blocs continue to struggle for control ahead of the general elections.
There are growing concerns that the crisis, if not properly managed by party leaders, could trigger anti-party activities, rebellion and internal sabotage capable of weakening the APC’s electoral strength in the constituency.
With both factions standing their ground and supporters intensifying online propaganda, tension remains high as party faithful await an official clarification from the leadership of the party.
