Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Begins Emergency Rehabilitation Of Critical Roads

The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Executive Chairman Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has commenced an emergency rehabilitation of critical roads across the council in partnership with the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC).
The intervention is aimed at addressing the deteriorating condition of key roads while improving mobility, accessibility and economic activities for residents, traders and other road users.
The assessment of the affected roads was conducted on Sunday, August 30, 2026, by Chairman Aroyewun alongside Engr. Olugbenga Ogunlewe, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation.
The emergency rehabilitation will cover Babajimi Benson Road (Igbe Road), Oba Molaja Road, particularly the Meri to Club 24 axis, Adebola Faniyi Street beside Methodist Church, Eleja, and Akindana Street opposite Methodist Church, Eleja.
The roads were identified as critical routes requiring urgent attention due to their deteriorating conditions and the impact on the daily movement of residents and businesses.
Speaking on the initiative, Aroyewun said his administration remained committed to addressing infrastructure challenges and improving the quality of life across the LCDA.
“The condition of our roads is of great importance to the daily lives and economic activities of our people. We will continue to explore every available opportunity and partnership to ensure that critical infrastructure challenges are addressed,” the chairman said.
Aroyewun explained that the partnership with the Lagos State Public Works Corporation reflected his administration’s proactive approach to governance and its determination to work with relevant state institutions to address infrastructure needs within the community.
According to him, strategic collaboration with government agencies is essential to achieving sustainable development and delivering timely interventions that have a direct impact on residents.
The rehabilitation is expected to ease vehicular and pedestrian movement, improve access to communities and businesses, and provide relief for residents who depend on the affected roads.
The initiative also forms part of the Aroyewun administration’s efforts to maximise available government resources and build strategic partnerships for practical infrastructure development under its GLORY Agenda.
The council administration assured residents and other stakeholders that road infrastructure and other developmental needs would continue to receive priority across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
