As part to measures to detect and curb sudden cardiac arrest resulting from high blood pressure, the chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, has purchased and distributed Automatic Blood Pressure Machines at designated offices in the council secretariat and Primary Health Centres across Mushin.
The council boss, while allocating the blood pressure machines to different offices, stressed that the rationale behind the machines being positioned at various offices, is to give staff the opportunity of measuring their blood pressure from time to time while in office.
He said this will afford them the opportunity to adequately monitor their BP without rushing to the Primary Health Centre or Hospital.
The chairman later handed over the Blood Pressure Machines to different offices where the staff can access the machines to take and measure their BP to monitor and take proactive measures against sudden cardiac arrest or high Blood Pressure which has been responsible for many cases of people slumping and instant death, being reported recently across the country.
For members of the public, he said the machines can be accessed at the Primary Health Centres across Mushin Local Government.
With the allocation, he said every staff member and political office holders would have access to check their blood pressure at any point in time, to know their status.
The Medical Officer of Health/HOD Medical Services, Dr. Kayode Odufuwa, enlightened that any reading above 130/90 on the screen is an indication that the blood pressure is on the high side, advising that such person should seek medical attention immediately.
The Council Manager, on behalf of the entire management, thanked the chairman for always caring for the welfare and wellbeing of his workforce.
The nurses who collected the machines on behalf of the Primary Health Centres, tested the equipment by carrying out BP test on everyone present during the distribution of the machines.
