Wafu-B U17 Cup Instrumental To World Cup Preparation, Busari Says

Nigeria U17 women’s national team gaffer, Hakeem Busari has portrayed the Wafu-B U17 Cup as an instrumental preparation ground for the Flamingos.

Nigeria will start their Wafu-B campaign against Niger in Yamoussoukro on Wednesday, September 16.

Busari said his side will use the regional showpiece to prepare for the World Cup which will be more competitive.

He noted no stone will be left unturned as their ambition is to finish top in the Wafu-B competition while adjusting to the pressures the tournament will bring.

“This is a preparatory stage for us. We are preparing for the World Cup, so we want to go to the top and also get familiar with the nature, the pressure and the important points that come with this kind of competition,” Busari said at the Wafu B Prematch Press Conference in Abidjan.

The experienced tactician believes women’s football in Africa is reaching a new height with the efficiency of regional competition to national teams.

Busari understands that competition of this nature will provide opportunities women’s football players and also increase the level of competitiveness in the continent.

He disclosed that the tournament will expose the weakness of his team which will be corrected ahead of the World Cup scheduled to be hosted in Morocco from October 18 to November 7.
