Former Akinbaye ward councilor, Hon Sadiq Shakir Adeola is spearheading the plan of Isolo indigenes to be the next chairman of the local council development area.

Adeola, who was the ward councilor between 2004 and 2011, told Echonews he has the experience and expertise to re-position the council to serve the people better.

The 46-year old aspirant said, besides serving two terms as councilor, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Insurance and a Master’s in Public and International Affairs (MPIA) holder of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Noting that this would be his third attempt to secure the chairmanship ticket and bring back the glory of Isolo and replicate developments in the western countries,  Adeola disclosed that the traditional leaders are also supporting the candidacy of indigenes, appealing to the party leadership to also embrace and support the indigenes agenda.

Adeola explained that the recent shortlisting of indigenous aspirants to three during a crucial meeting that was reportedly chaired by Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Alani Agbabiaka highlights how coordinated the indigenes are in their bid to ensure that the next council chairman is a son of the soil.

Although a consensus candidate is yet to be agreed upon, he pledged to support whoever was chosen as consensus candidate.

His words: “The traditional leaders are very much with us in the race. It is very easy for rumour to flow that the Kabiyesi is not supporting the indigenes because he is a father to everyone in the community but I can confirm to you that he is with us on this course because he will like an indigene to become the council chairman. He is not the one that will pick for us but the community. We know that the party is supreme and that is why we are strongly appealing to the party leadership for the opportunity. We are qualified for the position and we are highly experienced,” he said.
