As the aspirant for Oshodi-Isolo constituency II seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly under the platform of All Peoples Congress (APC), Hon Ayodele Abdulhafees Oliyide, embarked on constituency/wards tour, he has enjoyed express supports of the party members who embraced and welcomed him into the race.
At the Party Secretariat in Isolo, after enlisting his agenda, the party executive members under the leadership of Hon. Ganiyu Bello extolled Oliyide for his antecedents and the laudable programmes he promised to execute for the people of his constituency when elected.
Speaking in Oliyide’s candidature, the Party Chairman, Hon. Ganiyu Bello, declared that the contender is a blessing to Ishaga ward and the Oshodi-Isolo constituency II as a whole.
According to him, Oliyide is one of the best candidates that the Party would not but to put forward for the position.
When meeting with the party members at Ishaga Ward, Oliyide was warmly accepted as the right candidate for the post vying for by the Ward Chairman, Mr. Wale Tonade and other party leaders such as Alhaji Mustapha, Hon. Ajayi, Hon. Mark Eleribe and a host of other party stakeholders.
Hon. Ajayi said that Oliyide remained the candidate that that party could not do away with especially at this political era when the party is in serious need of capable candidates.
The same reception was given to the contender at Akinbaye-Alagbeji Ward FI, where the myriad of party faithful declared total support for him.
The Bamigbetan Mandate Group in Ejigbo also welcomed Oliyide as they equally promised to support him to achieve his political aim.
The KOK Representatives Forum under the leadership of Mr. Kamil Baruwa admonished Oliyide not to renege on his good promises and agenda for the Constituency when he emerged the winner at the poll in 2019.
While addressing the party members at the various gathering, Oliyide said that apart from the legislative functions through which he would make efforts to influence the policies that would be more beneficial to the grassroots people especially in his constituency, he promised to increase the rate if youths/ women empowerments he has been doing with his own NGO – OPAS-Africa.
Speaking on his antecedents, Oliyide stated that through his NGO, Oliyide Poverty Alleviation Scheme-Africa (OPAS-Africa), he has empowered more than 280 families with Small Scale Businesses (SMEs), artistry trainings as well as computer training for about 120 children.
He added that if elected, the NGO would sponsor some of the best children to other African countries to learn more of their works.
This he said would complement the interest-free loan for the SMEs.
Despite the fact the his father, Pa Ikiyide, facilitated the erection of Isolo LCDA and much of his contributions to the development of Isolo in particular and then Mushin-Oshodi LG, Ayodele Oliyide made it known that he single-handedly painted the present APC party Secretariat after it was secured at Onawale street in Isolo.
Besides the aforementioned, Oliyide said he is more qualified than all other contenders due to his academic qualifications.
He disclosed that having completed his Master’s degree in Architecture, he has also enrolled for Law at the University of Lagos.
He said his knowledge of law has helped him understand the business of law making at the House of Assembly.
He told the party members that he might not have the money to distribute to then, but their votes for him during the Party’s primary and general election would guarantee their life benefit of democracy.
He said, “I have been doing all the empowerment programmes with my own hard earned money without collecting a dime from the government. I may not have the money to share for you now. In fact if I come to you to borrow me N10000 each to campaign, it would not still go anywhere but what I want you to borrow me is your vote and I shall pay it back in ten folds.
“Please let’s vote eight this time around, don’t for for anyone because he is the child of a bigwig or o political leader, let’s base our choice on the antecedents of the contenders.
“Majority of those who we have been elected to the posts have failed us, they have done nothing to the community even with the huge amount of money they collect from the government on our behalf.”
