The All Progressive Council (APC) Youth Leader, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Babajide Ogunmefun, has given a clarion call to the youths and residents of Ejigbo to resist any attempt by any political aspirant not belonging to the political party to use them for untoward political activities in the forthcoming general elections.
Ogunmefun noted this during the inaugural meeting of the political part held at the Ejigbo multipurpose hall, stating that the members of the party, particularly the youths have to support the scheduled plans of the party in achieving positive results at the polls.
During his keynote address at the event, the youth leader said that it was imperative that the youths have the intellectual capacity to either stabilize or disrupt the chances of the party’s aspirants, adding that various political aspirants would try to use them for their “callous acts”.
He stated that the primary focus of APC youths in the community is to empower one another, not just disbursing empowerment items but granting vocational training and skill acquisition which would be followed by provision of requisite implements to soar high in their chosen businesses.
“Let me make it abundantly clear that we are not touts. The politicians who need touts can start by recruiting their children. On the other hand, scrupulous politicians invest in the future of the youths to ensure stability now and in the future,” he remarked.
He continued, “We intend to empower our members by training them in various trades and vocations, leveraging on the assistance from the chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Bello as well as other appointed and elected political office holders.
“When our members are gainfully employed, they would no longer be available to be recruited by unscrupulous politicians for any hatchet job to destabilize our electoral process.
“We will also leverage on the opportunity of available loan facility through the Lagos State Empowerment Trust Fund to enable young people establish businesses and become employers of labour.”
Buttressing Ogunmefun’s submission, the Deputy Youth Leader, Shamsudeen Adeoti, pledged to give all necessary support to the youth leader to achieve their aim of empowering Ejigbo youths and set the pace for other youth wings of the APC in Lagos State.
Adeoti said that the APC youths in the council have to be up and doing so as to archive their desired success in the polls.
The youth leaders also admonished youths to be circumspect in the choosing of who will represent them at the coming elections.
