Residents of Mayfair Gardens Estate in Ibeju-Lekki have received a significant security boost following the launch of a dedicated Security Trust Fund backed by a major contribution from the local government.

Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, provided a ₦5 million take-off grant to establish the Mayfair Estate Security Trust Fund. The initiative was unveiled during the estate’s 20th anniversary celebration organised by the Mayfair Gardens Property Owners and Residents’ Association (MAGPORA).

Olowa, who also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, described the partnership as a model of collaboration between government and organised residential communities. He emphasised that security remains a shared responsibility and a foundation for stable communities, economic activity and quality of life.

“Effective security requires planning, resources, coordination and accountability. When residents take ownership of this responsibility, outcomes are stronger and more enduring,” the chairman said. He praised MAGPORA’s leadership for demonstrating proactive commitment to community safety.

The Trust Fund is expected to support enhanced security measures within the estate, complementing broader efforts by the local government to maintain peace across Ibeju-Lekki. Officials noted that sustained security interventions have helped make the area increasingly attractive to residents, investors and businesses.

MAGPORA leadership expressed appreciation for the support, reaffirming the association’s commitment to initiatives that promote safety and sustainable development. The partnership underscores a growing trend of community-led security arrangements working hand-in-hand with local authorities in Lagos.

The move is seen as part of wider efforts to strengthen security architecture in the rapidly developing Ibeju-Lekki corridor, where organised estates play an important role in maintaining order and protecting lives and property.
