Nollywood Mourns as Actress Temitope Osoba Dies After Courageous Battle With Breast Cancer

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, barely a year after she made an emotional return to acting following her recovery from breast cancer.
News of her passing broke on Wednesday after fellow actor Alesh Sanni announced the sad development in a heartfelt tribute shared on his Instagram page.
An emotional Sanni revealed that he had been unable to sleep since receiving the heartbreaking news, describing Osoba as a cherished friend and sister whose memory would remain with him forever.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” he wrote.
Veteran actress Foluke Daramola also expressed deep sorrow over Osoba’s passing.
In a brief but emotional post, she wrote:
“She is gone, my baby is gone.”
The actress’ death has left colleagues and fans devastated, especially because it comes just months after what many described as one of Nollywood’s most inspiring comeback stories.
Her Inspiring Return
In August 2025, Temitope Osoba announced her return to the movie industry after successfully undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

She described her cancer experience as a life-changing journey that transformed her perspective and gave her renewed purpose.

This journey has been a turning point, leading to my rebranding, reshaping, and rebuilding. I’m emerging stronger, more resilient, and more passionate about sharing my story and inspiring others.”
Her return was celebrated across the entertainment industry, with many seeing her as a symbol of hope, resilience and determination.
How She Discovered the Disease
Osoba had openly shared details of her health battle to encourage women to prioritise regular breast examinations.
According to her, she first discovered a lump in one of her breasts while carrying out a routine self-examination in late 2024.
Although doctors initially believed the swelling resulted from hormonal changes, further medical investigations became necessary after the lump continued to increase in size.
Subsequent tests confirmed the devastating diagnosis—breast cancer.
Determined to survive, the actress underwent surgery in November 2024 to remove the tumour.
Medical experts later recommended another operation to eliminate the remaining cancer cells, beginning a difficult journey of treatment and recovery.
Throughout the period, she remained remarkably optimistic, frequently thanking God and appreciating those who supported her with prayers, encouragement and financial assistance.
