Imota LCDA Urges Residents to Stay Vigilant Amid Renewed Security Awareness Drive
Residents of Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have been urged to remain alert and take personal responsibility for security as the council stepped up efforts to promote safety across the community.
The appeal was made by the Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, through a security advisory issued on Tuesday, outlining precautionary measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
In the advisory, residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times, while promptly reporting any suspicious movement, activity or individual to the appropriate authorities.
The council also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, false alarms and rumours capable of creating panic within the community. Residents were advised to keep emergency contact numbers readily available and familiarize themselves with emergency exits and assembly points in public places.
As part of the safety guidelines, the council urged residents to cooperate fully with security personnel and law enforcement agencies during emergencies. It also warned against leaving personal belongings unattended in public places and advised residents to remain calm and follow official instructions whenever emergencies occur.
Particular attention was drawn to the welfare of vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, with residents encouraged to ensure they are properly monitored and protected.
The council further stressed the importance of prioritising personal safety and the safety of others, urging residents to immediately contact relevant security agencies in the event of any emergency.
According to the advisory, maintaining a secure environment is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation and cooperation of all residents.
