Veteran Nigerian actor, Abdul Salam Taofeek, popularly known as Tioruju Mondusi, has opened up about what he described as the most painful experience of his life, recounting a troubled chapter involving his late wife.

Speaking during an interview on the African A-List podcast, the actor said the incident remains the deepest emotional wound he has ever experienced.

Asked whether there was anyone who had offended him and remained unforgiven because of the pain caused, Mondusi pointed to his late wife.

“The only person that did the most painful thing to me in life is my wife. The incident brought tears to my eyes. She is late now, and may God forgive her,” he said.

According to the actor, the incident occurred about five years ago when he returned from a movie location and discovered that his wife, who was then heavily pregnant with their fifth child, was no longer at home.

He said repeated attempts to contact her proved unsuccessful until two days later when he finally reached her by phone, but she allegedly refused to disclose her whereabouts.

Mondusi explained that he later visited his mother-in-law’s residence to make inquiries and allegedly discovered that his wife had performed a marriage introduction ceremony with another man who was already married and had children.

The actor claimed that the situation escalated when his wife returned home and questioned the paternity of the pregnancy.

He further alleged that after giving birth, she requested that the naming ceremony be held at his residence despite publicly denying that he was the child’s father.

According to him, the disagreement eventually led to legal proceedings after his wife filed for the dissolution of their marriage.

Mondusi said that during the court process, she allegedly admitted that two of the children were not biologically his and disclosed details of her long-term relationship with the other man.

Reflecting on the aftermath, the actor said his former wife later died after reportedly battling depression, while the man she left him for eventually distanced himself from the relationship.

Despite the painful memories, Mondusi prayed for his late wife and expressed hope that she would be forgiven.
