APC Chairman Is My Uncle, Ice Prince Explains Convention Appearance
Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has responded to criticism surrounding his performance at the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress, explaining that his appearance at the event was influenced by a personal family connection.
The artiste had come under fire on social media after performing at the ruling party’s convention, with some critics arguing that celebrities should use their platforms to demand accountability from political leaders, especially amid concerns over insecurity and economic hardship in the country.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Black Box podcast, Ice Prince addressed the controversy and clarified the circumstances that led to his participation in the event.
According to the rapper, he honoured the invitation because of his close relationship with the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
“Who booked me for that event? My uncle, Nentawe Yilwatda, who is the APC Chairman. He is not just a random person to me. He is my real uncle,” he said.
The artiste maintained that his decision to perform was based on that personal relationship, offering insight into why he accepted the invitation despite the criticism that followed.
His comments come after days of debate on social media, where opinions remained divided over the role of entertainers in political events and national discourse.
